Arturo Y. Martinez

Arturo Martinez, 60, of Curtice, Ohio, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017 at his home. He was born in Mexico City, Mexico on October 28, 1956 to Francisco and Dolores (Yanez) Martinez and was a graduate of Fremont Ross High School. Art worked as a boilermaker for 34 years and was a proud member of Local 85 where he served 9 years as a trustee, 3 years as a recording secretary and 3 years as an AFL-CIO delegate. He was an OSU football fan and was a Cleveland Browns season ticket holder. He enjoyed fishing and working in his yard but most of all cherished spending time with his family.

Art is survived by his loving wife, Jodi Martinez; children, Angela Gozdowski, Arthur Martinez, Amanda Martinez and Alysha Martinez; grandchildren, Ava Gozdowski, Alex and Evie Martinez; father, Francisco; siblings, Ana (Don) Elder, Rudy Martinez (Linda), Mary (TJ) Held and Frank Martinez; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Patsy Sievert and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 from 5-8 and from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Genoa, Ohio with the family to receive guests one hour prior. Burial will follow at Clay Twp Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
