Garnet Francis Martin, 79, of Toledo, Ohio passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 14, 2017.  He was born on January 15, 1938 in Toledo, Ohio to Charles and Seidona Martin.  Garnet was a graduate of Olney High School and served in the U.S. Army.  In 1959 he married Elizabeth Reynolds and together they raised 6 children.  Garnet was a Boilermaker with the Local 85 for many years.  He also owned Maddog’s Pub and Grub and Dewey’s Supply Boat.   Garnet was a member of Northwood V.F.W. #2984 and C.C.Y.C. He was an avid fan of Ohio State Buckeyes, Detroit Tiger and Lions.  He will be dearly missed.

 

Garnet is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth; children, Cynthia (Karen) Martin, Edward (Dana) Martin Sr., Jodie (Bruce) Miller, Michael Martin, Tammy Stelmaszak and Garnett (Ricky) Kaweski; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson; sisters, Rosalee Mathews and Irene Avery; brother, Curtis Martin and special friends, Laurie Baker and Linnea Vargo.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Julia, Mary, Wilma, Eleanor and Eleta and brothers, Bruce and Howard.

 

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Sunday, November 19, 2017, from 2-8 p.m. where V.F.W. services will be held at 7 p.m.  Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to Great Lakes Caring Hospice or American Cancer Society.
