James Lawrence Hays

          James Lawrence Hays, 85 of Curtice, Ohio passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Lane Park.  He was born on December 28, 1932 in Toledo, Ohio to John and Effie Hays.  James attended Woodward High School and served in the U.S. Marines.  He was a 60 year member of the I.B.E.W. Local 8, retiring in 1995 as a master electrician.  James was known as a handyman that could fix anything without spending money.  He enjoyed fishing, gardening, bird watching and building things for the grandkids.  He will be dearly missed.

          James is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Ginger; children, Mike (Joyce) Hays, Cindy (Tom) Osborne, Sandy Hays and Mark (Debbie Corkins) Hays; grandchildren, Matt (Melissa) Hays, Katelyn (Kris) Rabatin, Josh (Colleen) Osborne, Jason (Mandy) Osborne, Jeanne (Charles) Williams, Melissa Hays-Barrios, Brad Hays and Devon Hays and 15 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Raymond, Gerald, John and Treva and great-grandchild, Christopher Osborne.

          Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, from 2-8 p.m. with the Lou Diamond Detachment Marine Service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday in the funeral home.  Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
