James E. Hooks, Sr.

December 17, 1963 ~ August 17, 2017 (age 53) 53 Years Old

In celebration of James E. Hooks, Sr., 53, passed away due to a massive stroke August 17, 2017 at 11 p.m. in Toledo Ohio at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio Detroit Ave. location.

Jim, a lifelong member of Oregon, OH., specifically the Bayshore area, where many called him “jack of all trades.”  Many people could count on him to be a lending hand to fix or build just about anything.  He loved the outdoors and always had a great tan.  Jim organized annual horseshoe tournaments for everyone to enjoy.  Jim was the kind of guy who always had jokes, “Wouldn’t want to be a fish, because they are in school all the time.”  He could make anyone smile and give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.  Jim loved to hunt go fishing, drag racing, nights under fire, Nascar, boating, football as he was a huge Michigan fan “Go Blue”, shooting pool, and riding his “Huffy Davidson” Bicycle.  Jim was a member of the VFW Post 9816 for close to 20 years and also the Harbor view Yacht Club.

He is survived by his 2 children, Chrystal L. Corder (Hooks)(Kevin Shaffer) and James (Michelle) Hooks, Jr.; siblings, Robert (Chris) Hooks and sister, Karrie (Brian) Wells; also his grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Sharron L. Hooks (Hartford), sister, Sherry L. Corado (Hooks) and father, Robert L. Hooks, Sr.

A memorial gathering will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Friday, August 25, 2017, from 4-7 p.m. Following the services we would like everyone to join us at the VFW Post 9816 located at 1802 Ashcroft Dr. Oregon, OH.  In honor of my father please drink responsibly so we all make it home safely.  Donations may be made out to James E. Hooks, Jr.
