James Stoner Obituary

James “Jim” Stoner, 66, of Northwood, Ohio went home to be with his Lord surrounded by his family on Friday, February 23, 2018 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio-Perrysburg Center.  He was born on January 17, 1952 in Sylvania, Ohio to Francis and Ruth Stoner.  Jim was a 1970 graduate of Northwood High School where he played basketball and recorded numerous records, some of which still remain there today.  After college he worked for Champion Spark Plug until its closing.  Jim then studied the art of taxidermy.  He started his own business called Animal Arts Taxidermy.  Jim also worked for the City of Northwood Streets Department for many years.

 

Jim was an avid fisherman, hunter and bowler.  He had 9 perfect “300” games and has many trophy fish, deer and birds from over the years.  In his spare time, he enjoyed camping with his wife and two dogs.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

 

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Cathy; son, Justin Stoner; brothers, Francis Stoner and Mark (Ellen) Stoner; mother-in-law, Treva Hutton; father-in-law, Mack Miller; brothers and sisters-in-law, Timothy (Anne) Young, Dora (Allan) Bensch, Karen (Jim) Ferguson, Suzan Pointinger, Bryan (Cathy) Young, Rebecca (Lance) Corbin and Brian (Becky) Miller.  He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and his k-9 companions, Sawyer and Brace.  Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Joyce Stoner.  

 

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018, from 10-2       p.m. at the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon.  A Memorial Service will follow at 2 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to James Cancer Center at The Ohio State University.
