John H. Bowman

John H. Bowman, 82, of Millbury, Ohio, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was born on April 28, 1934 in Swanton, Ohio to Frank, Sr. and Eva (Hill) Bowman and married Joanne Schnabel in 1957 and together they raised 4 children. John proudly served our country in the U.S. Army as a radio repairman in Germany during the Korean War.

John was an avid Ohio State fan who enjoyed golfing and working on small engines. For over 26 years, John worked for Chrysler, retiring as a supervisor in 1992.  He enjoyed searching for hidden treasures at flea markets and garage sales along with finding the most recent item needed by one of his kids. He was a member of The Rock Church and a past member of the VFW Post 8732 in Oak Harbor.

John is survived by his children, Brian (Leslie) Bowman, Bradley Bowman, Brice (Glenna) Bowman and Brenda Bowman; grandchildren, Brian Jr., (Kathy), Christine, Alex, Andy (Stacey), Cassidy, Cody, Matthew, Natalie, Valerie and Elizabeth; great-granddaughter, Avery and brothers, Tom (Joann) Bowman and Ray Bowman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne Bowman; both parents; brothers, James, Frank, Jr.; sister, Mary Jane and great-granddaughter, Emma.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 2-8 p.m. with the Funeral Service to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday in the Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Clay Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Rock Church for missionary work or the American Diabetes Association.
