Marcia M. (Mallien) Appelhans

Marcia M. Appelhans, 80, of Manitou Beach, MI and formerly of Toledo, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2017. Surrounded by her family’s love, Marcia fought her illness with courage and strength. She was born in Toledo on October 13 ,1936 to Jules and Anna Mae (Schemenauer) Mallien and was a 1954 graduate of Waite High School. Marcia worked for The Inn at the Toledo Sports Center and then with Food Town as a cashier for 19 years. She loved being at the lake and working in her yard.

Marcia is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Pamela) Appelhans, Scott (Julie) Appelhans and Brenda (David) Kanavel; grandchildren, Ryan (Debbie) Appelhans, Erin (Kurtis) Smith, Ian Appelhans, Monika Appelhans and Lukas Appelhans, Michael (Angela) Kanavel and Nathan Kanavel; great-grandchildren, Zia, Jozie and Kaylie. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Pete Appelhans and sisters, Claudette Brittson and Linda Clark.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on  Monday, May 8, 2017 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Lake Township Cemetery.  Memorial contributions are appreciated to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
