Rev. William Charles Parker
Reverend William C. Parker passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Mercy Health - Saint Vincent Medical Center. Father Parker was born on November 12, 1938 to the late Carroll and Vivian (Lucas) Parker. He was preceded in death by his brother, Albert (Colleen) Parker and sister, Mary Johnson. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Saint Meinrad Seminary and Masters of Education from Saint Francis College. He was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Toledo in 1964. Father Parker’s first assignment was Associate Pastor of Saint John Parish and Principal of Saint John High School, Delphos followed by serving as the Associate Pastor of Christ the King Parish, Toledo and Instructor at Cardinal Stritch High School, Oregon. He served as the long-time National Chaplain to the Catholic Alumni Club International. He served as Pastor of the following parishes: Our Lady Lourdes, Genoa; Saint Jude, Toledo; Saint Catherine of Siena, Toledo; Saint John, Lima. Father Parker retired from active ministry from Saint Jerome, Walbridge in 2009.
Father Parker is survived by his sister, Vivian Johnson; friend and caregiver, Shirley Haenggi and many nieces and nephews.
The Reception of the Body and Evening Prayer will be celebrated at 4 p.m. with visitation following until 9 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Corpus Christi University Parish, 2955 Dorr Street Toledo, Ohio 43607. Additional visitation will continue after 9 a.m. on Friday, December 15, 2017 where the Funeral Liturgy will begin at 11 a.m. with Bishop Daniel Thomas, presiding. Committal services will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
