Richard Steven "Jake" Thielen

Richard Steven “Jake” Thielen, 63, of Millbury, OH (formerly of East Toledo) passed, unexpectedly, on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at St. Vincent’s Hospital. He was born January 10, 1950 to James and Margaret (Rasey) Thielen. He graduated Waite High School in 1968. Jake married his high school sweetheart, Becky Matyok in 1970. Jake was employed at AP Parts, Lutheran Homes and The Wall St. Journal. He owned and operated Jakes Carry Out from 1977 to 1983. Jake enjoyed collecting vintage memorabilia particularly beer signs and cans. He loved spending time outdoors, but loved playing with his grandchildren most of all.

Jake is lovingly remembered by his wife, of 42 years, Rebecca “Becky” Thielen; sons, Joseph and Steven Thielen; grandchildren, Iris and Marcus Thielen; brothers, Kenneth, James, John (Gail) and Phillip (Becky) Thielen; sisters, Diane (Richard) Driftmyer and Jacqueline Lee; sisters-in-law, Darlene Thielen, Gretchen Thielen, Margaret Matyok and Dolores Matyok. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ed; brothers-in-law, Lewis, Richard and Robert Matyok.

Friends and family may visit at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 South Wynn Road, Oregon, Ohio on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 from 5 - 8 p.m.  Memorial donations may be made to the donor’s choice.
