Sue Ann Wuest

Sue Ann Wuest, 58, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on July 17, 2015 at Mercy-St. Vincent’s.  She was born in Oregon, Ohio on July 31, 1956 to Joan and Howard Wuest.  Sue was a graduate of Cardinal Stritch High School and earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Toledo.  Sue was the Assistant Director at the Urban Affairs Center at The University of Toledo.  She was a well-respected educator and researcher with expertise in Urban Planning. Sue was a former member of the Toledo Planning Commission. She loved her City and Community and thrived on mentoring public officials and young professionals.

Sue was known for hosting parties for her friends and family during The Old West Festival and The Holidays.  In her spare time, she was an artist, making beaded jewelry and hand painted silk scarves among other things.  Sue also enjoyed gourmet cooking, traveling and camping.  Many of her friends will miss her homemade ice cream cookie sandwiches and Dirty Steak Parties.

Sue is survived by her loving parents, Joan and Howard Wuest; sisters, Ann (Tom Hunt) Simpkins and Amy (Rick) Roman; nieces, Jessica (Brian Reed) and Elizabeth (Bob Johnson) Simpkins and nephews, Andrew (Holly) and David Simpkins.  She was preceded in death by her infant brother, Joseph Wuest. Grandparents Ethel and Roy Wuest, Anna and Ralph Fair, Elmer Keaton, Beloved Godmother Aunt Lois Quinn, Uncles Danny Wuest, Karl Obert, Bill Quinn, Don Shanteau and cousin, Doug Shanteau.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 from 2-8 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday at St. Ignatius Catholic Church at 10 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The American Diabetes Association or The American Cancer Society.
