William N. "Bill" Bowman

            William N. Bowman, also known as “Santa”, 85, of Oregon, OH passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Hospice of N.W.O. in Toledo. He was born in Fremont, OH on February 15, 1932 to Fay and Lola (Moore) Bowman. Bill was a graduate of DeVilbiss High School and U.T. with a M.A.Ed. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Bill started working as a teacher at Fassett and went on to become the principal at Woodmore and Lakeside schools. He ended his educating career as the O.W.E. Coordinator at Penta Career Center. Bill was a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite at Paragon Masonic Lodge #788 and enjoyed gardening in his yard. He will be dearly missed by all.

            Bill is survived by his beloved wife, of 55 years, Vivian Bowman; daughters, Rhoda (Philip) Smith and Heidi Bowman; grandchildren, Holly, Abby and Lily and sister-in-law, Maxine Bowman. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Grace Bowman and siblings, Robert Bowman and Marian (Prather) Hitt.

            Bill’s family would like to thank the staffs of Hospice N.W.O. and St. Charles Cardiac Rehab Center for their expertise and care.

            Arrangements have been entrusted to the Freck Funeral Chapel. A memorial visitation will be on Monday, May 1, 2017 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, 2201 Secor Rd, Toledo. Bill’s memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. following the visitation. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions can be given to Hospice N.W.O. or Hope Lutheran Church.
