William G. "Mr. Bill" DeShetler

September 3, 1931 ~ June 8, 2016 (age 84) 84 Years Old


            William G. “Bill” DeShetler, 84, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg.  He was born on September 3, 1931 in Toledo, Ohio to Leo and Elsie DeShetler Sr.  Bill graduated from Waite High School in 1950. He worked for the New York Central and Conrail Railroad’s for many years before becoming a Deputy Bailiff for the City of Maumee. Bill was also the owner and operator of DeShetler Heating for many years. He truly cherished spending time with his family and friends. Bill enjoyed bowling and dancing, especially Big Band music.  He was a lifelong member of Salem United Methodist Church.

 

            Bill is survived by his loving wife, of 53 years, Shirlie DeShetler; children, Barry (Linda) DeShetler, Melanie (Bill) Pert, Marcie (Kurt) Hoering, Teri Michalak (Greg), Bruce (Ann) DeShetler, Stacy DeShetler, Billie Jo (Jason Beyer) DeShetler; Shirlie’s sister, Karen (Jim) LaPlant; 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and brother, Ken. He was preceded in death by his parents; great-grandson, Brandon and siblings, Leo “Bud” Jr., Arthur, Mary and Shirley.

 

            Bill was a gentle person with a terrific sense of humor, he will be missed forever.

 

Arrangements are being handled by Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd, Oregon. A Celebration of Life Service will begin from 3 to 6 p.m. at Oak Shade Grove Hall on June 27, 2016. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Salem United Methodist Church.
