In Loving Memory of John E. Kirby October 22, 1934 - January 8, 2008 Age: 73

John E. Kirby, 73, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 22, 1934 to Walter P. Kirby and Mary E. Rollins in Toledo. John held various positions with the Columbia Gas Company for 32 years, retiring in 1992. John will be fondly remembered for his love of life and his ability to always see the best in others. He enjoyed being outdoors working in the yard, gardening and bird watching. John enjoyed reading books and playing with his two dogs. He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Victoria L. (Mercer); his two sons: Timothy J. Kirby and Michael S. Kirby; many grandchildren and a brother, Bernard O. “Skip” (Danielle) Kirby. John was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Walter L. “Pep” Kirby. Friends may visit Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd. in Oregon (419) 693-9304, on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. & Friday from 2-9 p.m. where a celebration of John’s life will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral services will begin on Saturday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with a funeral mass in St. Ignatius Church at 10a.m. Burial will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery.
