Overseer June Boone died at the age of 85 on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at Toledo Hospital. She was one of the woman Pioneers of her day having opened churches, Pastored and later becoming an Overseer, in a time when women were not accepted in leadership in churches. Persecuted for doing so, Sister Boone also with Pastor Mary McGee opened a church which to this day is still in operation. Sister Boone and Pastor Mary were active in helping in missionary work to feed the hungry both locally and overseas in Haiti, where many came to Christ. She was a great Prayer Warrior and will be missed by many. June was the Founder and President of Gospels Mission Inc. which was formed in August of 1963 now known as Harvest Apostolic Temple. She touched many lives through her work. To June, God and her family were her life and she was greatly devoted to both.
She is survived by her son, Harold Boone, daughter, Rosetta Beaty, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. June was preceded in death by her sons, William and Lawrence.
Friends may visit Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd. in Oregon (419) 693-9304, Friday, February 22, 2008 from 2-9 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the funeral home with burial following at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the family or Harvest Apostolic Temple.
