Ivan C. Myers Sr., 87, of Oregon, OH passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at the Mercy St. Charles Hospital. He was born on February 28, 1925 in Manistee, MI to Ivan and May Myers. Ivan was a 1942 graduate of Kaleva High School. He proudly served our country in the Army Air Corps. in the 11th Airborne Division, during WWII. Ivan was a life long member of the V.F.W. and Christ Dunberger American Legion-Post #537.
Ivan was a farmer and activist for clean water and agriculture. He was a board member for the Lucas County Farm Bureau, he served as a supervisor and director for the Soil and Water Conservation for many years, was Past President and a Trustee of CAP (Conservation Action Project) and volunteered for many functions at the G.A.F. Ivan loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Margie (Beichter); children: Cindy (David) Manship, Ivan (Amie) Myers Jr., Bill (Saletta) Myers and Bob Myers; grandchildren: Darryn, Tori, Ashley, Mitchell, Mackenzie, Rita and John; great-grandson, Derrin. Ivan was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Russell and Douglas and sisters, Lois and Doris.
Family and friends may visit Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Friday, April 27, 2012 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday in the funeral home at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Honor Flight of Northwest Ohio, 82nd Airborne Division Association-Toledo Chapter or Donor’s Choice.
