William “Bill” Brown 80, of Toledo entered into eternal life on January 2, 2008 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Born on July 24, 1927 in Martin County, Ky. to Dixie Mills Williams. “Brownie” as he was called by his friends, worked over forty-five years on the railroad. Bill started out as a mail handler for New York Central and retired as a crew dispatcher for Conrail at Stanley Yard. Bill was an army veteran who served in WWII. A member of East Toledo Baptist Church and Conrail Retirees Club, Bill also enjoyed fishing, volunteer work at the church, and most of all paw paws eight great-grandbabies. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Angie (Kowalinski) Brown; loving daughters, Susan Brown, Marcia Castro, Linda Pribe, and Elaine (Bob) Swope; devoted grandchildren, Bill Roberts, Jose Castro and Melisenda Beckwith all of Toledo, Shawna (Steve) Stevens of Petersburg, MI, Army SSgt. Matthew Swope of Fort Carson, Co., and Stephanie and David Pribe of Florida. Bill was preceded in death by his mother. Friends may visit Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd. in Oregon (419) 693-9304, Friday, January 4, 2008 from 2-9 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2008 in the funeral home. Burial of his ashes will be at Mills Cemetery, Calf Creek, Ky. in the spring. Memorial contributions in Bill’s name may be made to St. Vincent Mercy Palliative Care Unit, Hospice of Northwest Ohio or East Toledo Baptist Church. |
