Barbara Jean Coutcher

Barbara Jean Coutcher, age 76, of Oak Harbor passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at home surrounded by her family. Barbara was born on August 27, 1942 in Toledo, Ohio to Clarence and Lorena (Farrel) Hansen. Together with her husband, Barbara owned and operated Coutcher’s Café in the Birmingham neighborhood for 17 years. During this time she acquired many friends. She was a natural caregiver, a very kind and compassionate woman who enjoyed cooking and sharing a meal with others. She enjoyed sewing and crafts. Barbara had an annual tradition of creating handmade Christmas ornaments for her family and friends. She was never idle and was known to always be working on a project. Barbara also loved the Browns, Buckeyes and trips to the casino.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Olin with whom she would have celebrated 60 years of marriage later this month; their children, Leslie Daniel (Sandy) William (Linda), Rebakh (Mark) McGee, Christopher, Kenneth (Julie), Brenda (Kelsey) Zeller; 18 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way. She is also survived by her sister, Donna (Tom) Ludlow and brother, Leroy (Cathy) Hansen and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Glen Hansen, and sisters, Sharon Auger and Ruth Ann Kohlhoffer.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Sunday, October 7th from 6-8 p.m. and Monday, October 8th from 2-8p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Burial will follow in Williston Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio. The family wishes to acknowledge the great care Barbara received while in the Progressive Care Unit at St. Charles Hospital and at the Genoa Care Center.
