David McCoy

Charles “David” McCoy, 66, of Toledo, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2019. He was born December 18, 1952 to R.C. and Luvene (Brummitt) McCoy in Clinton, Tennessee. 

In 1975, David moved his small family to Toledo, where he worked in Construction as a General Contractor. David was a perfectionist, and later taught his son the trade, explaining that a job wasn't worth doing, unless it was done right the first time. David taught his son the importance of hard, honest work, which he carries with him to this day. David loved to fish and hunt and will always be remembered as a man who enjoyed the simpler way of life.

He was a kind, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved his family first and foremost. David was down-to-earth and would give the shirt off of his back to a stranger or family member in need.

David is survived by his wife of 47 years, Clara Belle (Patton) McCoy; children, David (Jennifer) McCoy, April (Jason) Smith, and Tricia (Richie) Wilson; Papaw of his grandchildren, Adam, Sarah, Jessica, Katie, Megan, Rebecca, Courtney, Nathan, Jacob; Papaw of his great-grandchildren, Rowan, Terreigh, Emma; siblings, Mary Fae (Wayne) Bridges, Janet (Ronald) Bullock, and Mitch (Marilyn) McCoy. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Nancy Gail, Brian, and Debbie.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Saturday, March 30, 2019, from 11-12 p.m. where services will follow at 12 noon. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
