Douglas P. "Doug" Searcy

            Douglas P. Searcy, 75, of Toledo, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at his home. He was born January 13, 1942 in Detroit, MI to Porter and Orabell (Nelson) Searcy and was a graduate of Denby High School. Doug served in the U.S. Navy during both the Korean and Vietnam Eras and later in the Army National Guard as a Medical Specialist. He worked for various places throughout his life starting at Davis Besse as a Safety Forman, Security Officer for Teledyne and general labor for Jim Bain Paving and later for Great Lakes Windows. He was a member of the Neighborhood Block Watch and the Christ Dunberger Post 537 as well as a volunteer paramedic for the Allen Township Fire Department. In his spare time he loved to fish, garden and spend time with his family.

            He is survived by his beloved children, Darrin Searcy, Cherie (Bryan) Runnels, Debora (Chris) King, Michelle Bartlett Lon Searcy; thirteen grandchildren and twenty one great-grandchildren. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 51 years, Carolyn; grandson, Brandon Bartlett; two brothers and three sisters.

            Arrangements have been entrusted to the Freck Funeral Chapel. A memorial service will take place on August 5, 2017 at 3 p.m. in William Henry Harrison Park 644 Bierley Ave, Pemberville, OH. Burial will be private. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Christ Dunberger American Legion Post 537 or his family.
