Elvira "Rita" (Matriciano) Black

            Elvira Black, 95, of Genoa, Ohio passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017 in her home.  She was born on August 30, 1921 in Philadelphia to Marion and Rose Matriciano. Elvira was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was known for her cooking and baking, as well as never forgetting a birthday or anniversary.  Elvira will be dearly missed.

            She is survived by her loving children, Louis (Elaine) Black Jr., Rita (David) Vaughan, Marie (Andy) Toth and Rick Black; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Black Sr.; parents; daughter, Diane “Candy” Black and 7 siblings.

            Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd. in Oregon on Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 2 - 8 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 300 Warner St. in Walbridge where family will greet guests after 12 noon. Burial will follow at Lake Township Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
