Janet Helen (Materni) Sheehy

Janet Helen Sheehy, 78, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2018 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. She was born August 31, 1939 in Toledo, OH to the late Ernest and Helen (Vass) Materni. Janet grew up in the Birmingham neighborhood, and was deeply proud of her Hungarian heritage. Janet graduated from Waite High School, where she met her future husband, Raymond. Janet worked as an administrative assistant within Toledo Public Schools for many years. Near to her heart was cooking, Notre Dame and watching her grandchildren’s sporting events and performances. Her life revolved around her family.  We will deeply miss her wit, laughter, strength and compassion. Hug your children and grandchildren, buy a lottery ticket and have a cold beer in Janet’s memory.

Janet is survived by children, Joan Miller (Bill Haas), Richard (Yvonne), James (Melinda) and Diane (Gerry) Krueger; grandchildren, Richard, Kristen (Paige), Ryan (Heather), Meghan, Kevin (Kim), Carly (Nick), Lena, Bryan and Bradley; great-grandchildren, Kirstin, Calli, Alexia, Averie, Parker and Maddie; brother, Ronald (Vivian) Materni, many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by Raymond, her husband of 42 years, son-in-law, Don; grandson, Matthew and brother, Boogie (Sharon) Materni.

In keeping with Janet’s wishes, all services will be private. In Janet’s memory please consider memorial contributions to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
