John Carr Obituary

            John Dennis Carr, 71, died Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 23, 1947 in Toledo. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. John retired from the military with 20 years where he served as a Food Service Sergeant. He then spent 24 years in maintenance with the Penta County Career Center, retiring in 2008. John was a national member of the American Legion and a member of Stoney Ridge Civic Association where he served as past president.  He was a former member of Woodville United Methodist Church. John enjoyed camping, cooking and riding his motorcycle.

 

            John is survived by his children, Elizabeth Norris, Dennis Carr and Sarah (David) Max; his children’s mother, Linda Carr; grandchildren, Claire Hornung, Elias Hornung, Willow Norris, Quinn Norris and Zachary Max; siblings, William (Barb) Carr, Margie Bringe, Violet (Walter) Kerstetter, Darlene (Don) Wells and sister-in-law, Anna Carr. He is preceded in death by his parents Merle and Mildred (Beeler) Carr; brother Rick Carr; brother-in-law, Fred Bringe and nephew, Brett Anderson.

 

         Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Friday, December 14, 2018, from 2-8 p.m. where a funeral service will be held Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to Wounded Warriors or ALS Association.
