John Owad, Sr.

John Owad, Sr., 86, of Oregon passed away Monday, February 6, 2017 at the Eleanor Jennings Home in Rossford. He was born July 21, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY to Joseph and Mary (Bekanich) Owad and was a graduate of Rossford High School. He began his 42 year career with L.O.F. taking leave to enlist in the U.S. Marine Corp to serve our country during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged, John returned to his job with L.O.F. where he worked until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of the Am Vets Post 222 and in his spare time enjoyed spending time with his family and going to casinos.

John is survived by his children, Sandra (Sam) Garard, Sonya (Dennis) Wolfe, John (Sharon) Owad, Jr. and Jody (Stacy) Owad; grandchildren, Cyndi (John) Noegel, Jennifer (Jake) Pistilli, Joshua (Ashley) Swanson, Christopher (Kristi) Swanson, Jeremiah (Mallory) Swanson, Adam Owad and Bryan Owad; great-grandchildren, Johnny, Emily, Tyler and Ethan Noegel, Isaiah, Izabella, Gunner and Willow Swanson, Hunter, Ryder, Laken and Oaklynne Mae Swanson and Elizabeth  Owad; and sister, Olga Khristov. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Della Mae Owad.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Thursday, February 9, 2017 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to the Ohio Veteran’s Home, 3416 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, Ohio 44870.
