Joseph Kiss Jr. Obituary

Joseph Wayne Kiss Jr. was born February 12, 1966 in Toledo, Ohio, to Brenda (Osborne) Kiss and Joseph Wayne Kiss.  He was a graduate of Clay High School in 1984 and attended the University of Toledo where he studied sales and marketing. Joe passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 25, 2018 at 52 years of age.

In those 52 years, he lived a life that others would have taken a lifetime to accomplish. He had many irons in the fire as the owner of Maumee Bay General Store, Joe’s Pizza and Kitchen, as well as a Subway franchise.  He was also a licensed realtor with Danberry Realty in Oregon and part owner of Bayside Boardwalk. He was serving his third term as a Jerusalem Township trustee. Of the many things he did, the one he enjoyed most was coach and mentor. He took such pride in being called Coach Kiss. He was very active in the Oregon City Schools athletic department and served as the head football coach at Fassett Junior High School. He also enjoyed being the announcer at many football and basketball games. You could always count on Joe; he was always ready to lend a hand whenever needed. Make the call and he made it happen. He will certainly leave a big void in the Oregon community.

Joe loved to enjoy time with his sons hunting and fishing, attending their many sports activities, boating and heading over to the Lake Erie Islands.  A special place in his heart was Middle Bass Island, the peaceful little island that captured his heart and where he made many happy memories.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 23 years, Jennifer (McCloskey) Kiss and the pride and joy of his life, his three sons; Joseph, Joshua and Jonah. Anyone who knew Joe knew that his sons were his world. He was always there for them, not only as their father, but as their best buddy. Also surviving are his mother, Brenda Fondessy; his sister, Doreen (Douglas) Cousino; nephews, Michael and Christopher Calevro and niece, Carly Calevro; aunts, Annette (Tab) Hager, Karen (Tom) Farrell, and Linda (Marvin) Wilhelm; brothers-in-law, Michael (Nancy) McCloskey, Patrick (Lisa) McCloskey, Kevin (Kathy) McCloskey, Brian (Andrea) McCloskey, sisters-in-law, Jackie and Melissa McCloskey; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph W Kiss; stepfather, Richard Fondessy; grandparents, Bernice and Joseph Kiss, Johnny and Christine Osborne; father-in-law, Gerald McCloskey; mother-in-law, Joan McCloskey; and sister-in-law, Michelle McCloskey.
