Lyle Phillips Obituary

Lyle R. Phillips, 88, died Monday, September 17, 2018 at Ebeid Hospice. He was born July 5, 1930 in Oregon Twp., OH to the late Harry and Emma (Mortiz) Phillips. Lyle was a graduate of Clay High School and retired after 30 years from Haughton Shindler Elevators. He loved boats and was a lifelong member of Cooley Canal Yacht Club and a lifetime president of Jerusalem Twp. Men’s Democrat Club. Lyle was a bartender at Toledo Sports Club and at the Flying Bridge Marina Restaurant. Lyle loved playing cards. He will be remembered as the “Best Dad Ever”.

Lyle is survived by his children, Lee (Mary) Phillips, Mark (Debra) Phillips, Sue (Bryan) Spychalski and Darren (Denise) Phillips; step-children, Terry (Shelley) Reiff and Gary Reiff; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and sister, Bonnie (John) DeStefeno. He is preceded in death by his wives, Gloria Jean (Takacs) Phillips and Alice (Landis) Phillips; daughter, Vickie Avery; grandson, Brian Reiff; brothers, Glenn and Dale Phillips and sisters, Evelyn Nissen, Edith Carter and Arleen Ditmeyer. A special thank you to his girls Lori, Sam, Joni, Susan and Lauryl at St. Charles Heart Rehab.

Burial will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.
