Robert R McDermott

Bob McDermott, age 87, passed away August 17, 2017 after being involved in an auto accident. He was born in Toledo, Ohio January 28, 1930, to Catherine and Ty James. He is survived by his loving wife; Nancy (whom he always called Maryann). They were married at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church on August 29, 1954. Bob was a retiree of the Devillbiss Co. in Toledo, Ohio. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan. Bob served our country in the U.S. Army for three years during the Korean War and is a member of the KWVA. Bob was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church for many years. He was loved by all, had a tremendous sense of humor and kept everyone laughing. He loved to be on the lake fishing and to be surrounded by his family. Bob especially loved sitting on the front porch of his home and visiting there with family and friends. He and Nancy traveled with friends and family to Hawaii, St. Thomas, FL, East Coast, Gatlinburg and many others.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; daughter; Robin McAllister, son; Robert S. McDermott, sister; Sue Brown and brothers; Art and Dickie McDermott.

He is also survived by children; Carol Lavelle, Mickey McDermott, Linda Rife, and Jeff McDermott,  Grandchildren and great grandchildren; Chrissy (Rick), Michael, George, Jamison, Angela, Jennifer, Chrissy, Coleen, Sean, Robert, Nancy Beth, Adrienne, Troy, Todd, Curtice, Brandi, Jessica, Rachel, Cory (Courtney), Delaine (Joe), Dillon (Codie), Bo, Chelsea (Michael), A.J., Sydnee, Skye, Jemel, Jourdan, Elder, Charles, Jaeleenah, Geanna, Braedyn, Mason, James, Alaina, Angelina, Gabriel, Tyler, Mercedes, Aryial, Trent, Travis, and Talon. Special cat; Batman, many cousins and special friends.

He was also blessed with one Great-Great Grandchild, Aria Grace.

Visitation will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel Wynn at Pickle Rd. in Oregon, OH. (419)693-9304 on Monday, August 21, 2017 from 3pm until the time of service at 7pm. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Bob’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
