Robert “Bob” Szegedi

Robert J. Szegedi, the man, the myth, the legend, age 73, of Toledo, Ohio passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Pristine Senior Living.  He was born in Toledo on October 25, 1944 to Andrew and Josephine Szegedi.  Bob was a graduate of Macomber High School where all four years he wrestled and played football. In his senior year he made all city linebacker and was district champion in wrestling. He worked for E.R. Carpenter Company as a plant manager.  He was a member of Ashland Baptist Church.  Bob was an avid football fan and coached football for many years at various schools on the eastside.  Bob was the 1st coach inducted to the East Toledo Jr. Football League Association-Hall of Fame 2016. Bob received a distinguished alumni award for the East Toledo Neighborhood House 2015.  He was a huge Ohio State Buckeye fan and enjoyed fishing and golfing.  He will be dearly missed. 

Bob is survived by his wife of 44 years, Ann Szegedi “I was the love of his life and he was the man of my dreams.” children:  Edward Hufford, Jodi (Jeff) Rutledge, Laurie (Gregg) James, Mark Hufford, Steve (Alice) Hufford, Anne (Tom) D’Angelo and Shawn Hufford; grandchildren:  Ariel, Kristal, Saige, Emily, Brad, Alex, Ty and Jake; brothers, Andy (Jamie) Szegedi and Ron Szegedi; good friends, Bill (Janice) Turpin and Ted (Carol) Halsey and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Josephine Szedegi and sister, Marsha Szegedi.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 1-5 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. In honor of Bob, please wear your favorite Ohio State shirt and you Michigan fans know who you are.  Memorial contributions can be made to the family.
