Valerie Evarts

Valerie Evarts, 95, of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Lakes of Monclova. She was born in Bourke, NSW, Australia on August 30, 1921 to Thomas and Katherine (Marsh) Tanswell. She married George Evarts on November 19, 1943 in Sydney, Australia.  As a war bride, Valerie began her life in the United States waiting two years for her new husband to be discharged from war time service. She was active in many community organizations and enjoyed activities with her family.Valerie shared her talent as an artist in painting portraits and landscapes and belonged to various local artist clubs. 

She is survived by her daughters, Joan (Scott) Keckstein and Nora Evarts; 5 grandchildren and 3 great- grandchildren.  Valerie was preceded in death by her husband, George of 63 years, parents; brothers, Roy, Malcolm and Noel Tanswell, and by sisters, Joan Nancarrow, Gwen Ladd, and Barbara Tanswell. She is survived by her good friend, Polly Weber of Chicago, Illinois.  A special thank you to the Lakes of Monclova and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their wonderful care and support.  A private family memorial to celebrate Valerie’s life will be on her 96th birthday in August.
