Walter C. Goetz, 89, of Oregon, Ohio passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at the Lane Park of Oregon. He was born on May 5, 1929 in Toledo, Ohio to Carl and Julia Goetz. Walter was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and served in the U.S. Army, during the Korean War. He worked at Toledo Trust for 35 years. After retiring, he went back to work, this time, for Citizens National Bank, Norwalk as the bank President. Walter was a member of Epiphany of the Lord Parish-Sacred Heart Church. He was also involved in many organizations including, AARP, Mobile Meals, American Institute of Banking, Guardianship Council, PTA, Oregon City Council, President of Cardinal Stritch School Board and the Cardinal Stritch Hall of Fame.
Walter is survived by his children, Michael (Arlene), Susan Knerr, Kathleen (Tom) Hufford, David (Lesa), Stephen (Juli), Kristina (Stephen) Major, James (Marilyn), Mark (Laura) and Timothy (Cathy); 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Rita (Richard) Wehrle and many dear nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy and son, Gerald Goetz.
Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Sunday, June 3, 2018 from 2-8 p.m. with the Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. The Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday at Epiphany of the Lord Parish- Sacred Heart Church with the family to receive guests after 9 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Gerald Goetz Scholarship Fund at Cardinal Stritch or Epiphany of the Lord Parish.
