James Bradley Chapman age 81 of Jerusalem Township passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024, peacefully at home surrounded by family. James was born in St. Albans, West Virginia on November 24, 1942. He was a graduate of Macomber Whitney High School and went on to serve our country in the U.S. Coast Guard. After his service, James returned home to marry the love of his life Nancy (McVicker) on August 8, 1964. Jim began his career as a journeyman Millwright with Jeep and went on to Interlake Steel retiring from the company Koppers/Toledo Coke. He returned to work with Chrysler in Perrysburg before retiring a second time. Jim held membership in the USW 1-346 and the UAW 1435 labor unions.
Jim was the kind of guy who opened his home to anyone in need, a true hero among men. He took care of those around him regardless if they were his responsibility. He was just that kind of person. He helped families that couldn’t afford to take care of their own. Even when he didn’t feel well, he always had a smile on his face and could make you laugh. Jim was also an active Jerusalem Township Food Pantry volunteer for many years.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Nancy; children Kevin (Linda) Chapman and Vicki (Richard Nadeau) Slinker; grandchildren Cody, Sam (Mya Plettl) Slinker, Loni Baker, and Remington Logan; great-grandchildren Desiree Slinker, Brantley Slinker, and Lydia Slinker; brother Jerry Chapman and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Shelly Marie Chapman, and siblings Gayle Liner, Bonnie Chapman, Danny Chapman, and Corie Burzynski.
