Steve Clere, 74, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away on February 1, 2024 at Toledo Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Steve was born in Port Clinton, Ohio on January 17, 1950 to Pauline and Amos Clere, and stepdad Richard Wetzel Sr. He graduated from Genoa High School. Steve was a tool and die maker at Toledo Stamping (now GTE Technologies) for over forty years.
Steve was an avid hunter and enjoyed annual deer hunting in Williams County with his companions. He and his family were founding members of the Toledo Lighthouse Society where they led the silent auction at the annual festival. Steve also enjoyed animals, raising chickens, bunnies, turkeys, ducks and his loving companion, Summer (dog).
Steve is survived by his son, Michael; granddaughter, Alexis Duskey, great grandson Ezra and brothers Robert (Vicky) Clere, David (Jennifer) Clere; Dennis (Pamela) Clere; and stepsisters Judy Wetzel, Linda Avery, and stepbrother John (Beverly) Wetzel and sister-in-law Sandra (Frank) Bihn. Steve is also survived by many nieces, nephews, loving family members and friends. Steve was preceded in death by loving wife Marsha of 41 years, father, Amos Clere, mother Pauline Wetzel, and stepfather Richard Wetzel, and stepbrother Richard Wetzel Jr.
A memorial gathering will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Friday, February 16, 2024, from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. where a memorial service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Those wishing to send tributes as an expression of sympathy in Steve’s memory are asked to donate to the Toledo Lighthouse Society, 1750 Park Road #2, Oregon, Ohio 43616.
