Andrew Szegedi

July 21, 1967 — October 7, 2025

Andrew “Andy” Szegedi, 58, passed away on October 7, 2025, at Bay Park Hospital. Andy beat esophageal cancer, being declared cancer-free in September 2025 but lost his fight to a complication of chemotherapy and radiation.

Andy spent the early part of his life working as a Meat Cutter at various locations throughout Northwest Ohio. He spent the last part of his career working as an interior and exterior Painter for K Kern Painting, working up until the week before he started treatment for cancer in April.

Andy or Little “A” was a free spirit who lived his life on his own terms. A life of the party kind of guy who could tell a story better than anyone! His sense of humor was legendary, and you could always count on him to cheer you up or make you laugh. He loved fishing, camping, and the Detroit Lions. Go Lions!!

Andy is survived by his partner, best friend and mother of his children, Traci Szegedi. Traci cared for Andy non-stop over the past 6 months, never leaving his side. He is also survived by his sons Andrew, Branden (Elizabeth), Aaron (Maeve) and daughter, Chelsea Szegedi; his grandchildren, Jacob, Jaxon, Emma, James and Welles Szegedi (due in December); His parents, Cheryl Szegedi and Andy (Jamie) Szegedi; sisters Tammy (Izzy) Castilo, Tricia (David) Terry , Tara (Bobby) Bailey and Macie Szegedi; brothers Tom (Crystal) Szegedi and Dylan Szegedi; nieces, nephews; Erica Szegedi, Adam (Lyndsey) Szegedi, Mindy (Trever) Szegedi, Logan Terry and Carsten Terry; Uncle Ron Szegedi, Aunt Mary Bassler and Aunt Clara Bassler and many cousins, great nieces and nephews and friends; and his best 4-legged companion, Max. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Andrew and Josephine Szegedi; Russel and Kathleen Bassler; Uncle David and Uncle Jim Bassler; Uncle Bob Szegedi and Aunt Marsha Szegedi.

We will all miss him tremendously but know he would tell us to “buck up!” or “get down!”. Andy did not want a funeral or memorial service, so we are planning a celebration of life at a later date, where he wants all of us to have a drink for him.
