Avery L. Wells

Avery L. Wells, age 78 of Toledo, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Avery was born to Lonnie and Buelah Evelyn (Smith) Wells in Norton, Virginia, on June 26, 1947. He retired from the construction trades. Avery loved his family and going fishing. He enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers, a good cup of coffee on his porch, a slice of pie, and listening to country music.

Avery is survived by his children, Avery, Anna, Patty, Virginia (Nick) Petree, Erica Sisler, Andrew Sisler, Krystal Baker, Johnny Sisler, and Sue Ellen; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sisters Annette Zientek, Thelma Fowler, Gaynelle Dennis, many nieces and nephews, and his best friend Jesse Rodriguez. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary in 2014, grandsons Eric and Steven Sisler, and brother Lonnie Wells Jr.

Visitation will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S Wynn Rd in Oregon, Ohio, on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Jerry City Cemetery in Portage Township.
