Betty A. Sweeney, age 93, of Oregon, Ohio went to be with the Lord on December 10, 2025 at Otterbein Pemberville. She was born on September 13, 1932 in Metamora, Ohio to Israel and Emma (Sibberson) Grodi. With her mother passing away when she was very young, Betty was raised by Warner and Iva Frobase. She was a graduate of Waite High School and worked in accounts payable at the Jeep Corporation for 30 years. She met the love of her life, Robert, at a Toledo Council of Catholic Youth dance and they were married for 64 years before his passing in 2019.
Betty enjoyed retirement, spending time with family and doing yardwork. She was known as a wonderful baker, especially her pies. Betty was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church where she made pies for the church bake sales. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Betty is survived by her children, Bill (Lolly) Sweeney, Debra (Jack) Smith and Carol Witty; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Mary Jane Pratt, Robert (Ursula) Frobase and Joseph (Helen) Frobase; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert; grandson, William Joseph Sweeney; and siblings, Margaret Gormley, Andrew Grodi, Caroline Battista, Joe Grodi, and Mary Foreman.
Friends may be received at the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Friday, December 12, 2025 from 2 – 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 212 N Stadium Rd. at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday where family will receive guests from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Ignatius Catholic Church.
