Brianna "Jake" Pettaway

Brianna Nicole Pettaway, age 31, of Oregon, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 11, 2025. She was born on November 18, 1993, in Toledo, Ohio, to proud parents Michael and Tammi (Sauerwein) Pettaway.From her childhood, Brianna stood out as a vibrant spirit. Her time at Clay High School was marked not only by academic pursuits but also by her passion for basketball, where she proudly played for the Eagles. Brianna possessed an infectious enthusiasm that inspired those around her—whether it was through her dedication on the court or her unwavering love for Marvel Comics, with a special fondness for Captain America.

Brianna treasured moments spent with her family, cherishing the laughter and love that surrounded them. In her spare time, she could often be found lost in her favorite movies, sharing stories and experiences with those she loved.

Brianna leaves behind her loving father, Michael Pettaway; her cherished siblings, Jalen, Jordan, and Riley Pettaway; her devoted grandmother, Mary Pettaway; her supportive grandfather, George Sauerwein; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins who adored her deeply. She is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Tammi; her grandfather, Jesse Pettaway; and her grandmother, Barbara Sauerwein. Their memory will live on as part of Brianna’s legacy, a reminder of the love and bonds that have shaped her life.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Freck Funeral Chapel, located at 1155 S Wynn Rd. in Oregon, Ohio, on Sunday, September 21, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. where services will be held at 5:00 p.m. As we gather to celebrate the beautiful life of Brianna, let us remember the joy she brought into our lives and the hearts she touched along the way. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the memories of her loved ones.
