Carol A. Hornyak, 85, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on October 30th, spending her final hours surrounded by her family. Born on December 18, 1940 in Toledo, OH to Elizabeth (Lasko) and Forest Paulsen, she grew up in the Birmingham neighborhood, attending Holy Rosary and later Central Catholic High School. Alongside her loving husband Joe, she raised her family in Curtice, Ohio and spent her retirement years traveling to Florida and visiting and caring for her family.

Carol was a life-long, faithful Catholic with a particular devotion to St. Jude and found comfort in praying the rosary. She loved flower gardening and animals - having many cherished pets over the years. Carol enjoyed a nice cup of hot coffee and baking many sweet treats.

Greeting her in Heaven, she was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Judy Paulsen and Donna LaMarche, her beloved sons Joe and Scott Hornyak; and in-laws Virgina (Elmer) Molnar, Anna Mae (John) Zajacz, and Rosemary Vamos. Survivors include husband of 65 years Joseph Hornyak, children: Cyndi (David Mannor) and Tim (Mindy) Hornyak; grandchildren: Nicole (Kurt) Susdorf, Magen Hornyak, Andrew Hornyak, Michaela Hornyak, Charlette Hornyak, Ashten (Ryan) Murray, and Jacob Mannor Hornyak; great grandsons: Axavier, Levi, Noah, and Easten; and brothers in law Stephen Vamos and Tom Hornyak, along with many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are welcomed to join in a memorial Mass held on Saturday, November 21st at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, located at 3011 Carskaddon, Toledo, OH 43606. A private internment will occur at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations are made in Carol’s memory to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or Alzheimer's Association Northwest Ohio Chapter.
