Carol Sue Spradling, lovingly known as Mom and Granny and sometimes “Maw,” passed away peacefully on Christmas morning at the age of 85. She was surrounded by love and leaves behind a legacy of devotion, strength, and deep care for her family.
Born on January 12, 1940, in Toledo, Ohio, Carol lived a life marked by kindness, resilience, and independence. She had a welcoming heart, a steadfast spirit that carried her through life’s challenges, and an unwavering love for those she held dear.
Carol found joy and meaning in travel, cherished hobbies, time with friends, and most of all, her family. She especially enjoyed attending the symphony and tea parties, simple pleasures that reflected her grace and appreciation for beauty and connection. Carol was hardworking and loved taking care of people. She worked as a nursing assistant for over 30 years at Lake Park Hospital in Sylvania, Ohio. She loved her job, often working double shifts and weekends.
She is survived by her sons Paul Jr. and Barney (Leah); her grandchildren, Michael, Samantha, Paul (Eva), Jacob, James (Alexis), Alexis (Drake), Sarah, Josephine, and Barrett; and her great-grandchildren, Lily, Mel, Conner, Camilla, and Paul, all of whom will forever cherish her warmth and countless ways she expressed her love. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Lester Spradling (May 29, 1937- March 15, 1992), and daughter, Kathy Sue (November 17, 1957 - July 26, 2006).
A celebration of Carol’s life will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S Wynn Rd in Oregon, Ohio, on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
