Charleen Marie Adkins

Charleen Marie Adkins, age 70, resident of Northwood, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026. She was born on December 30, 1955, in Toledo, to the late Norm and Helen (Hiatt) Cassavore.

A graduate of Springfield High School in 1974, Charleen pursued higher education with determination and grace. She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Toledo, a place where she would later contribute her expertise for many years. Her career as an accountant at the University of Toledo was distinguished by her diligence, professionalism and work ethic.

Charleen was known for her adventurous spirit. She always enjoyed embarking on new journeys with family and friends, especially the beach. These excursions were a source of happiness and connection with those around her.

She quietly supported many people and formed lifelong bonds through a fellowship that meant a great deal to her. Charleen was devoted to helping others and found deep meaning in a spiritual community.

Those left to forever cherish her memory are her loving children, Jerry (Marty) Tanner, Jimmy (Allison) Tanner, Scott (Kaitlin) Hartzell, Rachel Hartzell (Cory Price), and Ronnie Hartzell Jr.; and many grandchildren, family members, and friends.

In addition to her parents, Charleen was preceded in death by her husband, Edward “Eddie” Adkins.

Family and friends may visit at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Road, Oregon, Ohio 43616, on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm. A Time of Sharing will begin at 7:00 pm.
