Constance “Connie” W. MacVay, age 88, resident of Oregon, Ohio, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Orchard Villa. She was born on October 22, 1936, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Harmon and Woneida (Evick) McIlrath.
Connie was raised in East Toledo. She graduated from Waite High School, class of 1955. Connie devoted a significant portion of her career to Dollar General, where she was a dedicated worker, working her way up to manager. After 20 years, she retired and was able to devote a lot of her time to her family.
Connie was known for her loving, caring and witty personality, earning the affectionate nickname "Pidget" from her husband, a testament to their deep bond and her shorter stature. She was a supportive presence in the lives of her family members. Connie cherished her role as a grandmother, always making herself available to lend a hand or share a kind word.
Her passions extended beyond her professional life; when able, she found joy working in her yard, particularly nurturing her flowers. Connie LOVED sitting on her glider on the front porch of her former home on Starr Ave. and chatting with passerby's. Connie also had a beautiful collection of tea pots, cups and saucers, which she loved to display their beautiful artwork and unique designs.
Connie enjoyed swimming in her earlier years and loved reading mysteries as well as following The Royal Family and The Kennedy's.
Connie's legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Those left to forever cherish her memory are her loving husband of 68 years, Harry MacVay; children, Harry MacVay, Cathie Weiss, Brian (Tina) MacVay, Brenda (Tom) Kuns, Marsha Thomas, and Laura (Ron) Kuzma; 8 grandchildren, Britani, Andrew, Sarah, Katie, Hailey, Kaleb, Andrea and Stephanie; 12 great grandchildren; siblings, Marlene Meiss, Grace Curtis, Harmon (Debbie) McIlrath, Woneida Evanoff; many nieces and nephews; and a lifetime friend, Donna Paget.
In addition to her parents, Connie was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Bernie Weiss; and sister, Barbara Downs.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Tracey with Continuum Care Hospice, and Orchard Villa and its devoted staff - Craig, Tiffany, Brandy and Alicia with special thanks and appreciation to Melanie, Sykia, Vera, David, Princella, Bonnie and Miranda.
Private family services will take place at a later date at Toledo Memorial Park, where Connie will be laid to rest.
