David Paul Banaszak

David Paul Banaszak, age 86, of Walbridge, Ohio, and Grand Island, Florida, passed away peacefully at Otterbein of Pemberville on Thursday, September 3, 2026. David was born January 15, 1940, to August and Pauline (Lukasiewicz) Banaszak in Toledo, Ohio. Dave proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force before beginning his career as an electrician for the Ford Motor Company in Monroe, MI. He married his wife of 50 years, Barbara (Fackelman), in 1976. Dave loved his Lord and Savior, his family, and his country. He was a member of the Corda Club and Amvets in Eustis, FL, as well as Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Eustis and St. Jerome Catholic Church in Walbridge.

Dave was an avid skier and spent many ski vacations with wonderful friends George Vislosky and Lillian Scicolone in Breckenridge, CO. He loved to work with his hands and was always willing to lend one to anyone who needed it.

Dave is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons, Walter (Sonya), Mark (Jamie), and Robert (Jodie); grandchildren, Allie Allen (Jacob), Cassidy, David, Nicolas, Avery, Alyssa, Katelyn, and Mackenzie Banaszak.

A visitation will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S Wynn Rd in Oregon, Ohio, on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., where a scripture service will be held at 6:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 300 Warner St., Walbridge, Ohio, on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., where family will receive friends one hour prior to Mass. The burial will be private for family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated to Christy's Café or any food bank.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Timothy Hacker for the 21 years, giving our family this time with him. Also, special thanks are given to the caregivers of Otterbein Pemberville and, of course, the Hospice Team of HNWO.
