Dennis George Gerschutz

Dennis George Gerschutz, age 80, resident of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home, surrounded by love, on Friday, August 8, 2025. He was born on September 23, 1944, to the late Paul and Rita (Kuhlman) Gerschutz.

Dennis graduated from Arlington High School. He worked at Marathon Oil Company for a long and dedicated 30 years, retiring in 2000. He was an active member of the VFW 4906 Auxiliary. Dennis enjoyed spending time outdoors, where he loved to camp and go out on the boat.

Family was his utmost priority, and he took great pride in being a husband, dad, and grandpa, finding immense fulfillment in spending time with his loved ones. His warm presence and kind demeanor were a source of comfort and strength, creating lasting memories that will be treasured by all who knew him.

Those left to forever cherish his memory are his loving wife, Sharon (Mack) Gerschutz, whom he married on February 2, 2008; children, Marsha (Jeff) Raymond, Steve (Holly) Gerschutz, Gary (Tami) Vincent; step-children, Carrie Abaka-Williams and Amanda Mattison; grandchildren, Anna, Sarah, Gannon, Caprice, Gary Jr. (Rylie), Elizabeth, Carson, Kayla, AJ, and Summer; siblings, Dave Gerschutz and Dan (Deborah) Gerschutz.

In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his first wife, Melanie; son, Mark; and sister-in-law, Phyllis.

Family and friends may visit at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Road, Oregon, Ohio 43616, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 1:00 pm, at the funeral home.
