Dwuane H. Seimet

Dwuane H. Seimet, 84, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away on November 13, 2025. Born in Ottawa, Ohio, to Bernard and Cornelia Seimet, Dwuane learned the value of hard work early. In fifth grade, he began helping his father tear down old houses to salvage lumber, which they used to build the family home in Oregon, Ohio—a story that reflects his resourcefulness and determination.

After graduating from Clay High School in 1960, Dwuane worked as a carpenter on projects ranging from homes to restaurants and malls. He later joined CSX Toledo Lakefront Docks as a longshoreman, eventually becoming a foreman. While at CSX, he founded Seimet Construction, remodeling and building homes. For decades, he worked two jobs to support his family, embodying perseverance and sacrifice.

On August 3, 1963, Dwuane married the love of his life, Linda Sheets. Together, they shared 62 years of devotion, raising a family built on love and integrity. Dwuane took immense joy in his roles as a father and grandfather, cherishing every moment spent with his children and grandchildren.

Recently, when asked if he liked to watch sports, Dwuane replied, “No, I was a worker.” Dad, you were so much more than a worker to your family. You showed us what it means to be the hardest worker in the room and how to serve others so they can thrive. Thank you for that example—it will live on in all of us.

Dwuane is survived by his wife, Linda; children Kelly Gonzales (Anthony), Kurt Seimet (Kathy), and Kevin Seimet (Kimberly); and grandchildren Kirsten & Dr. Jordan Martinez, Morgan & Diego Mejia, Macey Gonzales, Katlyn & Gregor Ceglaj, Kallie Seimet, Kendall Seimet, Kylie & Jeff Peters, Kolin Seimet, Kadin Seimet, Kole Seimet, Kaylabelle Seimet; great-grandson Dezy Mejia; and sister, Phyllis Seimet. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Bernadine and grandson Kameron Dwuane.

Family and friends may visit at Freck Funeral Chapel 1155 S Wynn Rd. in Oregon, Ohio, on Friday, November 21, from 11 a.m.–1 p.m., followed by a private family service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Toledo Zoo and Aquarium or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
