Elizabeth Jane Graher, age 100, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Gardens of St. Francis. She was born on February 3, 1926 in Kane, Pennsylvania to Charles and Mary (Kashmer) Struffolino. Betty was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and earned her Master’s degree from the University of Toledo, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She worked as a teacher for Toledo Public Schools retiring after 25 years of educating students spending most of her time at Franklin Elementary.
Betty and her husband, John, were married for 54 years. Their marriage was filled with love, laughter, dancing and travel. They visited Caribbean islands, France, Portugal, Slovenia, and Spain before moving to New Smyrna Beach, Florida in retirement for 30 years. While in Florida, she was a beloved volunteer at the local library, Habitat for Humanity, and Hospice. At her church, Our Lady Star of the Sea, Betty was a Eucharistic Minister and the coffee and donut coordinator where she built community and made many friends. Betty was also past president of the Ladies Society for the Catholic Council of Women.
Betty is survived by her children, Maryann (Ken) Ludwig, Johnny (Pam) Graher, and Julie (Jon) Pugh; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John Graher; and her siblings, Charles, and Janet.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Gardens of St. Francis, 930 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 beginning at 9:30 a.m. where the funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Please wear colorful clothes or accessories to attend her celebration. She will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
