Ernest “Boogie” Materni, age 75, of Millbury, Ohio passed away Friday, April 29, 2016 peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was born December 3, 1940 in Toledo, Ohio to Ernest and Helen (Vass) Materni.
Boogie is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sharon (Sheehy); children, Jack (Alex), Michelle, Joe (Wendy), Christine (Mark) Ramirez, Steve (Gina), Sarah (Tim) Jarosz, Martha (Chris) Meek, Tim (Sheri), Helen (Chris Castillo) and E.J. (Heidi); 25 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Ronald (Vivian) Materni; sister, Janet Sheehy and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Ernest III.
Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Monday, May 2, 2016 from 2 - 8 p.m. where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at St. Jerome Catholic Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to Mass. Burial will follow at Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Cardinal Stritch High School.
