Ernest L. Wight age 72 passed away Monday, September 26, 2022, at Genoa Retirement Village. Ernest was born to Lucy M. Wight on October 21, 1949, in Curtice, Ohio and was raised by his grandparents William and Irma Wight. He was a 1967 graduate of Woodward High School. Ernest worked for City Auto Stamping and later was a truck driver with Tristate. He loved muscle cars, fishing, card playing, traveling, and westerns.
Ernest was a wonderful husband to wife Susan who passed away in 2003 and father to their children Starlene (Brian) Burkett, John Wight, April (Aaron) Schultz, Miriam Wight; grandchildren Jake and Jesse Poiry, Alexander, Katheren, and Ryan Reinhart, and Elijah Burkett; great-grandchildren Steven and Keona; sisters Cynthia (Hal) Diamond and Judy Bee. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather Donald Birtwhistle, his mother Lucy, and his grandparents.
A visitation will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel on Thursday, September 29, 2022, from 2 until 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions are appreciated to the Fraternal Order of Police.
