Gary L. Roberts Sr., 85, left this world to join his beloved wife and high school sweetheart, Brenda J. Roberts. He passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, August 20, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was the cherished son of Lawrence Roberts Sr. and Gleneva (Roberts) Erb, born on August 14, 1941, in Toledo, Ohio. Gary graduated from Olney High School and married the love of his life, Brenda Riddle, where they went on to have 4 children. He worked with his father in the heating and air conditioning business as a young man for many years and then spent 31 years working at Libby Glass until he retired in 2007. Gary was a jack of all trades and proved there wasn't much he couldn't build, fabricate, or fix. Gary was also a Northwood Volunteer firefighter for many years, eventually becoming Fire Chief of Station No. 2.

After retirement, Gary and Brenda enjoyed traveling with special trips to Maine, Florida, Washington, Nashville, etc. His favorite pastime, though, was spending time at his hunting camp in Pennsylvania, "Roberts Roost". He was an avid deer hunter and loved spending time in the woods or just sitting on the deck with his binoculars. He even bought two ATV's so he and Brenda could ride the trails together. He was only a phone call away for his kids whenever they needed help. Gary and Brenda both adored their grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spent time babysitting, going to games, school events, LPA National Conventions, and having sleep-overs. Gary loved evenings with a glass of Johnny Walker Black on the rocks, sitting around the fire-pit in his backyard to which anyone was invited. Gary was Brenda's main caregiver for several years during her struggle with Alzheimer’s. His sons & daughters helped take care of them so they could live out their lives in the comfort of their own home. A special thanks to the Elara Caring Hospice staff who were wonderful with our dad; Karra, Shawne, Dawn, and several others who made it possible for us to keep them home. We will be forever grateful for being allowed that privilege.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons and daughters, Gary (Hoser) Roberts Jr., Debbie Carter, Jackie Wilson (Ken), Randy Roberts; his 5 grandchildren, Jessie Carter (Michael) and Taylor Colon (Selena), Dana Cedoz, Jordan Cedoz (Kenzie), Joshua Cedoz (Chris); his 8 great-grandchildren, Xavier, Jax, Kiana, Robert, Brooke, Noah, Lilly and Logan; brother, Terry Roberts (Diane); brother-in-law, Larry Riddle (Shirley); sister-in-law, MaryAnn (Melnyk) Riddle; nieces, Carla Champion (Brent), Andrea Loo (Jon) and Kathy Riddle; nephews, Matthew Riddle (Stefanie), TJ Roberts (Martha), Larry Roberts (Erica).

Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Roberts; his parents, Lawrence Roberts and Gleneva Erb; his brother, Lawrencie Roberts; sister-in-law, Linda Tudor; brother-in-law, Tim Riddle; niece, Stephanie Riddle; great-nephew, Logan Roberts.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026, from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd, Oregon, Ohio. Funeral service to be held Friday, August 28, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Burial services will follow at Lake Township Cemetery.

Gary leaves behind a family who loved him deeply, friends who will miss him dearly, and a lifetime of memories that will continue to bring smiles through the tears.
