George Edgar Aiello, 90, passed away on September 13, 2025 at the Orchard Villa nursing home under hospice care. He was born to Ralph Aiello and Evelyn (Maxine) Aiello in Toledo, Ohio on May 2, 1935. He would go on to graduate from Waite High School in 1953. George served his country as a member of the naval reserves from 1954-1958 and in active duty in the army from 1959-1961. He was married to Beverly (Hannan) Aiello for 14 years. They had one son, and a daughter who passed away shortly after birth. He later met Patricia (Morrison) Aiello and they married on November 26, 1971, in Toledo, Ohio. They were married for almost 54 years. They had two sons together, as well as Patricia’s two children from a previous marriage.
George was very proud of his military service and considered it his greatest accomplishment. He was a hard worker no matter what job he held. Both Cain’s and Hostess hired him for his salesmanship. AA Boos hired him for construction work, and his final job was driving a dump truck for Zam’s Trucking. He was an avid bowler and had a ring he received for bowling a 298. He participated in several leagues, some with his wife, Patricia. George was a train enthusiast and delighted his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren by operating one that went around the top of the sunroom of his home. Crossword puzzles from several newspapers were completed each morning once he retired, and always in pen. Sports were a passion for him. George played football in high school and coached a semipro team named the Ottawa Otters. Watching his sons play, and rooting for his favorite teams brought both joy and frustration. He cheered for the professional teams from Detroit including: Lions, Tigers, Pistons and Red Wings. Only one Ohio team made the cut-The Ohio State Buckeyes football team. George enjoyed coffee all day long. He loved sitting in his garage, with the door open on nice days, smoking a cigar-but never inhaled, so he said.
Geoge is survived by his wife, Patricia; his children; Gregory, Don (Laurie), Shawn (Jeri); stepchildren; Jennifer (Vince), Tony (Tracey) grandchildren; Ryan, Josh (Laura), Amanda, Shawn (Kayla), Riley, Noah (Caden), Emily; great grandchildren; Charlie, Owen, Sam, Ezekiel, Isaac, Evelyn, Lianna and brother; Michael (Sherry). He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers; Ralph, Larry, Tony, and sisters; Frances and Mary, and by his daughter Pamela.
