James Lloyd Lillie, 83, of Curtice, Ohio, passed away peacefully, March 19, 2026, in the Merit House with his loving family surrounding him.
Jim was born in Toledo on August 21, 1942, to Robert Sr. and Jane (Heinzeroth) Lillie.
He attended Raimer Grade School and graduated from Waite High School in 1960. He also attended college at the University of Toledo for two years.
During the Vietnam War, Jim served in the United States Air Force from 1964 – 1968. He was stationed in Massachusetts, Colorado, and Guam where he worked with the B52 Bombers.
James married his wife of 55 years, Mary (Adams) Lillie on September 19, 1970, in Christ the King Church.
Jim was employed by Toledo Edison Co. for 25 years in the meter and relay departments including the startup of Davis Beese nuclear plant. He then drove automotive parts for Fleet Pride (Toledo Clutch & Brake) for 18 years before permanently retiring at age 70.
James loved hunting, fishing, and trapping with his family and friends. He was an avid reader of SiFi/Fantasy books in hardbound, paperback or on his Kindel. He did woodworking and built our two barns with friends and family help.
Jim never met a stranger, he would strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere over a cold beer.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; son, James II; daughter, Sarah (Jay) Jackson, and son, Christopher; brother, Bob (Pat) Lillie Jr.; brother-in-law, Mike Torsok; grandson, Alex (Megan) Fick; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Bob Sr. and Jane; and sister, Sue Lillie Torsok.
There will be a private funeral for immediate family only. A Celebration of Life will be held at Jerusalem Township Hall on May 16, 2026, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm, with food and fellowship.
