James Frank Vinet, 81, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026, surrounded by the people who loved him. James was born on September 3, 1944, in Toledo, Ohio, to his parents, George Vinet and Josephine (Lotozynski) Vinet. He graduated from Waite High School in 1962. James married the love of his life, Glenna Jean Vinet, on July 23, 1977, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Toledo, Ohio. Together, they shared 49 years of marriage. Together, James and Glenna selflessly raised four daughters.

Throughout his life, James worked many different jobs, but he took great pride in serving his community and protecting others through his work in law enforcement. He retired as a Clay Township Deputy Sheriff and also retired from CSX Railroad. One of James’s greatest passions was entertaining others. He loved music and sharing his talent with the people around him. In the early 1960s, he worked in radio under the name The Jimmy Show. Over the years, he entertained at countless weddings, reunions, and community events. He was also part of the Jimmy and Bob Show and participated in Guilish Villa Days for 22 years. Music and entertaining brought James tremendous joy throughout his life. He will be remembered for his love of trains, motorcycles, a cold Pepsi, and a well-manicured lawn. Some of his happiest days were spent grilling his famous “Papa Burgers” for his family by the pool.

He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters; Ellie Vinet, Amber (Daniel) Inks, Erica (Andrew) Cappiello, and Inez Vinet; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sister Darlene Patterson (Dan W.); brothers , Robert Vinet (Linda) and Mike Vinet (Linda), and many friends who were blessed to know him. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Glenna; his mother, Josephine; his father, George; and his granddaughter, Ashleigh.
