Jann Lynn Utley, age 69, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 6, 2026, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg after a courageous 30-day battle with cancer.

Born on October 17, 1956, in Toledo, Ohio, Jann was the second of five daughters of Robert and Patricia Moore.

Jann graduated from Clay High School, where her exceptional artistic talent was recognized. Upon graduation, she was offered the opportunity to study art in Switzerland. Although she chose not to pursue that opportunity, she remained passionate about the arts throughout her life, expressing her creativity through drawing, painting, sewing, glassblowing, and pottery.

Over the years, Jann held a variety of jobs, but her most treasured role was serving others as a nursing assistant at the Medical College of Ohio. Her compassion, kindness, and dedication to caring for others reflected the generous spirit that defined her life.

Nothing brought Jann greater joy than spending time with her family, especially her daughter, Kerry and grandson, Omari. She was a constant presence at recitals, plays, hockey games, parties, graduations, and countless other milestones. If Jann was there, you knew it—she celebrated her loved ones loudly and enthusiastically. She wanted those around her to feel seen, heard, and deeply loved.

Jann also expressed her love through hospitality and baking, often spending hours creating delicious treats for family gatherings, special occasions, or simply because she cared. Her home was a welcoming place where family and friends found acceptance, encouragement, laughter, and unconditional love.

Jann leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband of 50 years, Willie Utley; her daughters, Astede (Jose) Utley, Monica Utley, and Kerry Utley; her grandson, Omari; her sisters, Paulette (Bruce) Strine, Cynthia (Leon) Bell, Katie (Greg) Fleek, and Mernie (Todd Fulcher) Moore; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Patricia Moore.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Portage Holiness Camp.

Jann's legacy of love, creativity, generosity, and unwavering support for those she held dear will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
